About
Built by someone who's been in your shoes
Revenant Systems is run by Dan Jacobs, and the first client was his own family's company. Dan runs Mr. Camera, the Las Vegas video production company his father founded in 1981 — and for years he ran it the way most family businesses run: gear, crews, quotes, and invoices juggled across spreadsheets, texts, and memory, because "real" custom software cost more than a work truck.
So he built his own: a platform that ran the whole operation, from rentals to invoicing. Then other business owners saw it and asked for their own version. When AI made it possible to build that caliber of software in weeks instead of months, Dan started Revenant Systems to build it for other businesses. Here's that origin story.
The name? A revenant is something that comes back from the dead. That's the goal for a business buried in spreadsheets.

What does Revenant Systems do?
Revenant Systems builds software for small, owner-run, and family businesses — booking, quoting, invoicing, client records, dashboards, and automations — and builds AI into it where it earns its keep: reading receipts and documents, and drafting replies and summaries, with you deciding what goes to customers.
How much does it cost?
Standard rates are a $650/month platform fee plus $49/month per staff login — together they cover hosting, backups, security updates, bug fixes, and email support — adjusted to each project and confirmed in a written quote before work starts. A five-person shop is $895/month. Changes after launch are $150/hour, done only after you approve them in writing, and larger builds can carry a one-time build fee. Here's the full pricing guide.
How long does a project take?
Most projects launch in weeks, not months. Simple tools can ship in one to two weeks; full operations platforms typically take four to eight weeks.
Who owns the software and my data?
Your data is yours. If you ever leave, it's made available to you in a common format, and you have 30 days after the agreement ends to take it. We own and maintain the software and license it to you while you're a client — that's why hosting, fixes, and security updates are included. Either side can end the agreement with 60 days' written notice.
Do you use AI in the software you build?
Where it earns its keep. AI reads receipts, invoices, and insurance certificates into fields a person checks, and drafts replies and summaries. In paperwork and anything touching money, a person approves; a few small, logged steps run on their own. The math, and anything that moves money, is done by ordinary code — not the AI.
